Smiling Fearlessly with Smile Brilliant

I have been so excited to post this for you guys. I want to share with you the experience I’ve had with my new favorite way to whiten teeth –ย Smile Brilliant!

Because I know many of you (if not ALL) are probably on your second cup of coffee by now, let’s be real.

So, let’s rewind a few years to when I was in college… back when my coffee addiction began. It was my junior year, I had just transferred and changed majors AND gotten a new job, so my life suddenly got REAL busy. My life became: eat, class, work, study, repeat. Notice how there is no “sleep” in that pattern… because I truly rarely slept! I turned to coffee. I had made it to 21 without HAVING to have coffee in my life. But y’all… that year I just couldn’t live without it! The addiction had begun. I drank it alllllll the time, several times a day most days.

Now, here I am, still in a committed relationship with coffee. I have tried to quit coffee numerous times. It just doesn’t work out! I even do decaf (ugh I just cringed at myself) sometimes, but never quitting coffee. And don’t get me started on wine!! I had recently tried Crest white strips, but wasn’t a huge fan of them because of how difficult they were to keep on. When I wore them, they slipped off my teeth almost every time, so I felt like it was a waste. I had finally accepted that my teeth will probably never reach their full, whiteness potential.

Being a blogger and all, it’s impossible not to want a fresher, whiter smile – it’s our biggest accessory! But we also want convenience, am I right? Enter Smile Brilliant! I’m so glad that I found a whitening kit that is EASY and that WORKS.

Here’s the rundown:

Smile Brilliant is an at home teeth whitening system that has really figured it out. They are recommended by more dentists than any other whitening product! And can whiten your teeth for 70% of your dentist’s cost, and over twice as fast! Amazing, right?!

After receiving your whitening kit, you send in your teeth molds (don’t worry – they pay for your shipping to send it back!). Then they send your custom-fitted trays straight to your door, and boom you can get started!

First of all, the step-by-step instructions are very user friendly and easy to understand! I loved this because when using a product with multiple steps, I need it all thoroughly described or I worry I’m doing it wrong. This seemed so easy!

Another thing I loved about this process, is the custom teeth trays. They actually stay in place, unlike most strips I’ve used that slide off your teeth when wearing them. I can actually do things and talk (just with a slight lisp haha) while I have them in without worrying about them messing up or slipping off my teeth. Because who has time to just sit there while you wait?!

Now for the question you’re probably already asking in your head – does it give you tooth sensitivity? While I definitely experienced some mild sensitivityย while the trays were in, I hardly felt any once I was done using them. The only time I had any gum pain was during the whitening (because the gel was touching my gums slightly). It does burn a bit at first, and may be a bit uncomfortable, but nothing too crazy. Fortunately, they provide you with a desensitizing gel to use after the wwhitening gel! This seemed to help my gums a lot! I was so thankful for this, because I hate when my teeth get sensitive, and any other whitener I’ve used makes them sensitive. I’m sure everyone’s teeth/gums are different, but for me it was very minimal sensitivity. If you do experience some though, they have tips for helping ease it ๐Ÿ™‚

My favorite thing about the custom whitening trays? THEY WORK! I noticed a difference within a couple times of using them. It’s honestly pretty amazing to watch your teeth change within a couple weeks’ time! I’ll share my before and after photos below so you can see for yourself.

I would 100% recommend Smile Brilliant if you’re looking to whiten your teeth. Not only does the product work, but the customer service is extremely helpful and kind. I even messed up one of my first molds I sent in for my trays, and they quickly sent me a second round so that I could try again! They were helpful in how to properly do it and were very patient. I also received everything in the mail promptly and quickly!

Before showing off my Before’s and After’s, let’s talk GIVEAWAY! I’m teaming with Smile Brilliant to give away a customized tray creation kit!! This is a $139 value, so you definitely don’t want to miss out on entering! The giveaway will be open for ONE week! Monday Motivation

Hi guys! Hope your week is off to a lovely start. After having my family in town last week, this week already seems to be dragging and quite boring. I wish I could just keep them here with me, haha! We had so much fun. I’m already anxious for their next visit.

We spent most of the time at the beach, but when we weren’t on the beach we went out exploring some new places – shops, coffee/food places, etc. – and eating yummy food (my best hobby!). We shot these photos in Historic St. Andrews – one of my all time favorite spots in this whole area!

This outfit was perfect for covering up my sunburnt shoulders without making me sweat in the heat! I bought this shirt at Riffraff several years ago, and I’m so happy I have held onto it, because bell sleeves are making the biggest comeback! I will link the outfit details at the bottom of the post (linking similar shirts since this one is old)!

Anyways, let’s talk about getting OUT of your own head and letting positivity in!

One of my BIGGEST struggles this week, to be honest.

I have come a reeeally long way as far as self love and all that goes. Most days, I love myself regardless of what negative thoughts try to pop into my head and ruin my day… But some days, or weeks, just don’t come as easy. Some days, my negativity toward MYSELF saturates everything I do and affects my whole mood. Not cool, but it is what it is. So please know that you are not the only one struggling with this!

My husband said something very profound to me today, although to him it was probably a simple remark. But when I was complaining about something, I said to him, “Ugh, it’s fine. I’m fine.” And he replied with, “Fine, or good?” WOW this resonated so much for some reason. (Sorry babe for telling this ๐Ÿ˜˜ but your wisdom must be shared!)

Maybe it’s just me, but that made me stop and think about how negative I was being for NO reason. I was acting like my world was going to end, when in reality, I am good and LIFE. IS. GOOD. God has given me this life and this purpose, and it is good and it is well. We aren’t put here to be average and “just fine” but to be happy and purpose-driven.

It’s like God is just really pushing for me to get my chin up ASAP because on top of the hubby’s encouragement, I was reading my devotional and it basically said, “You’re gonna get through today, no matter what, so you might as well take the happy route through today, by choosing Me.”

If you’re doubting yourself, whether it be your appearance, your financial situation, your job, whatever – please remember to choose Him, choose HAPPY! Being happy is a choice, and you’re the only one who can make it ๐Ÿ™‚

I may only be preaching to myself today… but hey, I hope this helps you lift your chin a little like it did mine. Hope your week is fabulous! Thanks for stopping by

What Living on Base Has Taught Me About Decor

Hey friends! I hope your day rocks so far. I’m currently swooning over this cup of coffee… it’s some local coffee we picked up from the farmers market and I’m in love. It may or may not be my second cup of the day.

Today I’m giving you a (tiny) look into my home so that I can share what living on base has shown me about decorating my house! This may be helpful to any new military spouses who are about to move into base housing OR for anyone simply wondering how to efficiently (in my opinion) decorate. Or just for anyone wanting a little glimpse into my base housing experience. ๐Ÿ™‚

I am only showing a couple of areas in my home, because as I’ll explain shortly, this is a PROCESS. And a slow one! Keep in mind we are still kind of newly weds soooo some areas of the house are just not decorated yet!

1. Use pops of color wherever you can!ย For those of you unfamiliar with the white walls club, typically base housing has all white walls in every room of the house. You are only allowed to paint them something else IF you paint them white again before you move out. This just sounds like a ton of work for a temporary home, so we chose to stick with the white walls. This means that you must add color any chance you get! I’m a huge sucker for neutrals (with decor AND my clothes!) so I have learned to add color. Add some bright flowers to a table, or a bright color picture on the wall. You may have some bright throw pillows you can add to your couch to brighten up the whole room. Just don’t be afraid to add bright colors where you can – as long as they match/coordinate the theme of the room! One of my favorite pops of color in my dining room is the peonies – in my table center piece and on the dream catcher. It’s a simple way to brighten the room!

2. Utilize all of the space you’re given!ย Here is a great example of this – my bar nook! When we first moved into this house, we were intrigued and honestly confused by the awkward, random nook in the dining room wall. We left it alone for several months because we couldn’t decide what to do with the space. Then one day it hit me – a bar nook! I searched Pinterest for all kinds of inspo, and thanks to my hubby’s willingness to spend hours in HomeGood’s with me, my bar area came to life within a week! I combined my love for chic/classic decor with his love for whiskey (the prints) and BAM a bar area we both love! So, don’t be scared to get creative with those random spaces in your house! Use the space you’re given efficiently and you’ll find it easier to decorate AND store things.

3. Simple is okay!ย I find myself often comparing my house to other peoples’ houses and how thoroughly decorated they are. But I have to remind myself that it’s okay to go for a simple look! One thing that drives me crazy is clutter – so having a simple theme is great if you get clutter anxiety like me! It makes the room look clean and tidy without having to try too hard. Plus, if you’re only going to be living there a year or two, then it’s just a few less things you have to take down when it comes time to PCS!

4.ย Decorating is a process!ย This is the biggest realization I have had since moving here! It may sound silly but when we first moved here and made a few friends, I would get so down on myself after seeing their houses. I felt like my house would never look as good as theirs or that I would never know how to decorate well enough. But then I realized, we JUST got married less than two years ago! We JUST moved here a year ago! We are still figuring out what our style is and letting it evolve into exactly what we want it to be. It takes some time to accumulate all of the pieces you need for your house to look whole! Not only time but money! It definitely takes MONEY. So what we have done is simply buy a few things here and there, every couple of months, and before you know it you’ll have a whole room complete! It just takes time (and patience). You gotta save up dat money to be able to replace the old, eclectic college hand-me-downs with your very own furniture.

Hope this helps you out, wherever you are in your home decor journey! Here is where my decor is from:

Dream catcher – HERE!ย My friend Kristi from back home has started an awesome business (Krafti Kristi) and her goal is to bring your Pinterest boards to life. How cool is that?! I know I’m guilty of pinning crafts and never following through with them, so having someone do it for you is pretty awesome. Check out her page!

Gold photos + ‘Kitchen’ sign + clock + succulents – Hobby Lobby!ย The photos and signs were incredibly affordable, and I made my own succulent displays! Just got the jar, stones, and plants from HL and assembled it how I wanted ๐Ÿ™‚

Bar cart + chai candle – HomeGood’s!ย Seriously there are no words for how bad I want everything when I go in HomeGood’s. If you need a bar cart, they have lots of cute ones to choose from!

Large whiskey print – Amazon!ย

Hanging wine rack – my talented husband!ย ๐Ÿ™‚

Painted wine bottles – used from my wedding!ย Efficiency at its finestย ๐Ÿ™‚

Aztec rug + gold lights – Target!ย Linking the rug HERE. Lights were in the dollar section!

5 Ingredient Banana Pancakes

Happy Sunday y’all! I hope your long weekend is treating you SO well!

There’s something about Sunday mornings that just makes me want pancakes. And about 90% of the time, I resist the urge. But today is one of the days in that 10% where I just need pancakes. Neeeeeed them. So here we are. I made pancakes.

But these pancakes are quite a bit lighter than any regular pancakes from a restaurant or a box! Minimal ingredients, and minimal sugar! And the best part – you can add/remove whatever toppings or mix-ins you want! Today I chose mini chocolate chips, because well just because. ๐Ÿ™‚ I went out to the beach early this morning with the team of volunteers to track sea turtles! Definitely one of the coolest things I’ve done – and this was the perfect way to fuel up after!

5 Ingredient Banana Pancakes

1 cup oats
1 banana, mashed
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla

I also added 1 stevia packet for sweetness (optional) and a tablespoon of mini chocolate chips! You could also add nuts, berries, raisins, etc.!

Mash your banana first. Then add in the remaining ingredients and mix together until combined into a batter. Heat up and grease a skillet or griddle to low to medium heat (I kept it low to keep the outside from getting too crispy). Once it’s hot, add batter and cook like normal pancakes! Top with natural peanut butter or syrup, and enjoy!!

Hope you guys have a wonderful Sunday! You are beautiful. Thanks for reading!

Low-Sugar Chocolate Oat Cookies

Hi guys! Hope your week is off to a fabulous start!

I’ve been spending lots of time with friends and keeping super busy when I’m not! Lots of beach time as well, because, well I think I’m turning into a mermaid.

And now… I have a fun recipe to share with you! It has a pretty funny story behind it.

First of all, I don’t know who to credit for the original recipe for this, because I got it from my Nana, who got it from someone. However, I did tweak it a little bit and make my own version of it because I love doing that!

Last month I went to visit my Nana and Pawpaw. When I go see them, my Nana ALWAYS has some sort of sweet treat made for me. Ever since I can remember, she’s always had fresh cookies, brownies, or some sort of yummy treat waitingย because she knows my love for sweets! Well this time, since she knows that I’m trying to maintain a healthy diet and enjoy finding new healthy recipes, she made me some healthy cookies similar to no-bakes (my FAV)!! How thoughtful is that?! Ugh she is the sweetest.

But when she told me about the cookies she made me, she said “Bethany, I made you these cookies because they’re healthier than regular ones and I know you’re eating healthy… but THEY ARE AWFUL!” Hahaha. So of course, when I tried them I loved them, and they were certainly not awful. *Disclaimer: we ended up making real no-bake cookies that weekend because we just needed the real thing too! Balance, right?* I just thought it was so funny that she thought they were so gross. She’s too modest – everything she makes tastes like heaven in your mouth.

That being said, these do not taste quite like no bake cookies. HOWEVER! They are not a bad alternative if you are counting calories or avoiding sugar! I honestly did enjoy them, and will definitely make them again. One of the main changes I made is adding a small amount of NATURAL sugar. When you look at most cookie recipes, there’s a minimum of a whole cup of sugar, so this still keeps them minimal sugar!

I’m not hating on normal cookies, but moderation is key! Sometimes ya just need a healthy alternative, especially with summer right around the corner!

Here is the recipe, including my changes I made:

3 ripe bananas
2 cups oats (I prefer old fashioned over quick)
1/3 cup peanut butter (I use natural!)
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon honey
*If you still need more sweetness, you can add stevia.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mash the bananas. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Let the batter stand for 20-30 minutes. Drop spoonfuls onto baking sheet, and bake for 10-12 minutes. Enjoy!

I hope you guys have a lovely week! You are amazing. Thanks for reading!

Wellness Wednesday: Comparison

Hi pretty people! These super fun yoga pants are from HERE and code “reasoner” saves you some monaaaay! My “Chill” top is from TJ maxx and I’m obsessed. It’s like TJ knew I love to netflix and chill.

I hope your hump day has been fantastic. Mine has been rainy, but productive overall. The nice thing about rainy days is you can stay in and GET. STUFF. DONE. I love checking stuff off a to do list.

I also love naps, like a lot, which is also a huge temptation on days like today. So I’m writing this post instead! It helps me feel more productive ๐Ÿ™‚

This morning in the shower, I prayed that God would use me somehow today. Just that. Use me, however. Whatever. I had no specific ideas in mind at that time. But as I was finishing my workout today, I kept thinking about this topic and realized that maybe this is what God wanted me to talk about on here today! (I originally wasn’t going to post today)

If this doesn’t relate to you, I apologize and hope I don’t bore you too much. If it does relate to you, I hope you can find some comfort here on my little corner of the internet!

Something we ALL can relate to is comparison. We areย surrounded constantly by people on Instagram with “perfect” bodies (I say that in quotations because we are humans and surprise! not perfect). We are reminded constantly of how hard people are working at the gym, because let’s be honest almost everyone posts their workouts – I am guilty of this too! We scroll through feed after feed full of what everyone else is doing, and we forget that we are only seeing a very small fraction of what’s really going on.

On top of social media, there are always co-workers, family members, friends, etc. who seem to be doing just a little more or better than we are. Or maybe something you wanted job-wise, school-wise, etc. didn’t work out, and it made you feel inferior when comparing yourself to your colleagues.

Am I right? I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who struggles with this.

But something I have had to basically FORCE myself to do is to take a step back from Instagram or Twitter or whatever platform it is that’s making you feel inferior. Because if it’s giving you anxiety or making you feel less than AMAZING, then is it worth spending time on? No. Take a step back.

I’m not saying delete your insta or anything, Lord knows I love the ‘gram lol. But when you start feeling yourself making comparisons, TAKE A BREAK! Put your phone down, and go enjoy the moment.

And remember, no matter how perfect someone’s instagram feed is, their life is certainly not. Everyone has their struggles, or insecurities, or whatever. Everyone’s body is different. That super intense workout they do might work for them, but maybe you have bad knees and can’t do high impact stuff. THAT’S OKAY! It doesn’t make you LESS, it makes you DIFFERENT. If we were all the same this life would be so boring.

And on top of everyone’s body being different, so is everyone’s situation! Don’t judge your body based on someone thinner than you – what if they have a food intolerance that causes them to be limited on what they can eat, thus resulting in weight loss? What if you didn’t get that internship because a BETTERย one is waiting for you down the road? Don’t let what can often be a very positive, happy social media platform turn into something that causes you unneeded anxiety.

Being someone who often struggles with anxiety, this realization has been key for me! Everyone’s on their own path. So let’s build each other up, love each other, and MOST importantly, love OURSELVES. We can’t truly love others until we first love ourselves.

Rainy Day Casual

Hi friends! I have been loving my time here at home the last few weeks – terrifying storms and all. But, let’s be honest… you can only keep a girl away from the beach for so long. I am anxious to get back to my actual home!! Plus, living out of a suitcase can get exhausting. I’d say the biggest struggle for me lately, however, has been change. Plans changing. So many things in my life have just changed at the last minute and left me feeling caught off guard and stressed out and sometimes even angry. I’m a planner, it’s just my personality. While I do love being spontaneous, I also need structure. So, when not just one but many things up and change in my life all at once, no matter how big or small – it causes chaos in my mind (looking at you, Satan).

Lately I’ve learned to just be still and know that God is in control, not me. My job is not to worry, because what does that do? Having faith isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it. So, wherever you’re at in life, keep your faith even when it’s tough! He’s got your back I promise!

Sorry for the completely non-fashion-related rambling. I felt like someone else might be feeling like me so thought I’d share ๐Ÿ™‚

For a good chunk of the time I’ve spent here, it has rained. In fact, immediately after taking these pictures, it poured. April showers this year have been relentless! I wish I had a dollar for every tornado warning we’ve had here lol. These crazy storms ruined some of my most exciting plans here.

Anyways, because of all the rain, the theme of many of my outfits became COMFY+CUTE. And this dress is about as comfy as it gets! I got it back in December, and it’s versatile and can be worn into the spring! I usually break up the stripes by tying a long sleeve around the waist. I went for chambray this time, but plaid is really cute with it too! And being in AR for the week, I figured this hat was pretty appropriate ๐Ÿ™‚ I got it HERE and they actually have recently released some new, similar hats that are SO cute (think: one says “Dry Shampoo” omg yas). And my Steve Madden’s on my feet because HOLY COMFY.

And that, my friends, is how you stay comfy yet cute in the rainy weather (without having to try too hard hehe). Hope your week is fantastic!

Monday Motivation feat. Firepower

Hi guys! Hope your Monday is off to a great start! I’m trying to resist the urge to drink all the coffee right now. I’m trying to decrease my caffeine intake and see how it affects my migraines! So far I’ve made it one whole day without it. ๐Ÿ˜…

Anyways! Let’s talk fitness.

In my opinion, fitness doesn’t just include physical health, although that’s a huge part of it. I believe mental health plays an important role in one’s overall fitness. If your mind is struggling, chances are your physical fitness will as well – whether it’s being too obsessed with exercise or lacking the motivation to start exercising at all.

That being said, I want to share what I have been struggling with personally lately! This blog isn’t just about my favorite clothes, it helps keep me accountable too ๐Ÿ™‚

Sometime the last couple months, I have done something to my back. And it HURTS. All the time. Of course this happens to me right when I start feeling better from my foot surgery and working out regularly again! Because #badluckbeth. Anyways, I had just started to see the fruits of my gym labor (aka abs!) when suddenly I could hardly go for a simple walk because of my back pain. I struggled and struggled with having to rest. I hate resting because I feel like it means I’m not getting closer to my goals. The phrase “if you’re not winning, you’re losing” comes to mind.

What I’ve learned, however, recently is that I have to listen to what my body is telling me. That back pain is there for a reason. Our bodies are very smart and since we only get one, why NOT listen to it?! I’m so glad I listened to mine and took the last several weeks (more like two months, at this point lol) to rest and recover. I’m currently working with some physical therapists to get my back figured out, and what we’ve learned so far is that my back is only at 50% strength of what it should be. Like, I’m at the bottom of the lowest deviation from normal LOL what?! No wonder my back is screaming at me everyday!!

So now, between my physical therapists and my fitness coach, we are going to get my back stronger than ever so that I don’t have to deal with this anymore.

The moral of my story – if you’re still reading this congrats you rock – is that if we don’t listen to our bodies NOW, they will end up suffering more LATER. So listen to what your body is telling you. Love your body through that process, whether you lose a little muscle mass or gain an extra pound or two, because your body is worth it.

I’ve still been able to get some light cardio in on most days, and it’s been great being able to incorporate my family into that! I’m doing a summer body challenge with my Firepower fam and it’s been challenging dealing with my back, but I’ve loved the motivation it gives me.

My yoga pants and sports bra here are both Firepower, and you can get a discount HERE with my code “reasoner”!! I love the mesh detail on them, and the material of the pants is amaze. So comfy.

Hope you have a lovely Monday! Thanks for reading!

7 Tips for Packing

Happy Friday you guys! I hope you’ve had a great week! I woke up feeling incredibly thankful for so many little things today. Isn’t it crazy how easy it is to lose sight of those things?! I’m thankful for the things God is teaching me in this season of life. Anyways ๐Ÿ™‚

I’ve got several trips coming up over the next few weeks and months, so as I was packing for the first one, I realized this is probably something many people struggle with – myself included! It has been trial and error figuring out the most efficient (for me, at least) way to pack. So, I’m sharing the 7 tips I’ve figured out that help me out the most when packing for a trip!

Keep in mind, this may differ a little depending on whether you are flying or driving, but overall should work for either ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Versatile staples are key!ย Think: comfy cotton dress that you can dress up or down; denim shorts that go with ANYTHING; jeans that look great with heels or sneaks. Versatile shoes are great too, since shoes can take up quite a bit of space. It will keep you from having tons of different random items, because you can easily re-wear the versatile ones. This brings us to number 2…
  2. Don’t be afraid to mix + match!ย Take those versatile staples and put them with different pieces to make a whole different look. Choose items you can get 2-3 different outfits from. This helps keep me from over packing (disclaimer: I always end up over packing anyway. Ooops!) Example: I have a black cotton dress that is SO comfy and I can tie a plaid button up around the waist with my Chucks, OR I can throw it on with wedges and a chunky necklace. Two totally different looks, but with one main piece. Mix prints if you have to – if it makes you feel out of your comfort zone, that probably means it’s fun and you should go for it! Another example: I like mixing my camo tee with a plaid button up.
  3. Always bring a jacket!ย Even if you think, “Oh I won’t get cold, it’ll be fine.” NOPE. YOU WILL FREEZE YOUR *** OFF. It’s inevitable, when you don’t have a jacket, it’ll get cold. That’s how mother nature works. But especially if you’re flying! It gets so cold on planes. Maybe it’s just me because I’m cold 98% of the time, but you’ll thank me later when you visit Colorado in June and it starts snowing! Crazier things have happened.
  4. Dry shampoo FTW.ย Because whooooo has time to wash their hair when traveling?! Not me. My favorite dry shampoo at the moment is Batiste – it smells amazing and doesn’t coat my hair super heavily like some others do. This iron guard by Chi is also one of my hair staples; it keeps SOME of the damage away from hot tools. Travel size items are even better! Hats are also life savers.
  5. Put your toiletries in a ziplock!ย Maybe this is common sense to some, but I didn’t learn this trick until my shampoo spilled ALL up in my bag once. So learn from my mistake – ziplock that ish!
  6. Bag for dirty clothes!ย It sounds like something an over-protective mom might say, but if you’re going somewhere you don’t have access to washing machines, your dirty clothes might make your nice, clean clothes smell not so great. Especially if you’re like me and like to *attempt to* get some workouts in. Sweaty gym clothes on my clean ones, no thanks. If you stick a plastic Target sack in your suitcase, it takes up no room!
  7. Travel steamers are the real MVPs! Seriously, the best investment in my entire life was my travel steamer. Okay maybe not in my ENTIRE life, but pretty close. Traveling means lots and lots of wrinkles. Travel steamers are typically pretty small, and take 30ย seconds to heat up. Boom – the day is saved! You can get the one I have HEREย (they didn’t pay me to post this, I just really love my steamer).

That’s all I’ve got for now, I hope this helps you pack more efficiently for your next adventure! Thanks for stopping by.
