Monday Motivation

Hi guys! Hope your week is off to a lovely start. After having my family in town last week, this week already seems to be dragging and quite boring. I wish I could just keep them here with me, haha! We had so much fun. I’m already anxious for their next visit.

We spent most of the time at the beach, but when we weren’t on the beach we went out exploring some new places – shops, coffee/food places, etc. – and eating yummy food (my best hobby!). We shot these photos in Historic St. Andrews – one of my all time favorite spots in this whole area!

This outfit was perfect for covering up my sunburnt shoulders without making me sweat in the heat! I bought this shirt at Riffraff several years ago, and I’m so happy I have held onto it, because bell sleeves are making the biggest comeback! I will link the outfit details at the bottom of the post (linking similar shirts since this one is old)!

Anyways, let’s talk about getting OUT of your own head and letting positivity in!

One of my BIGGEST struggles this week, to be honest.

I have come a reeeally long way as far as self love and all that goes. Most days, I love myself regardless of what negative thoughts try to pop into my head and ruin my day… But some days, or weeks, just don’t come as easy. Some days, my negativity toward MYSELF saturates everything I do and affects my whole mood. Not cool, but it is what it is. So please know that you are not the only one struggling with this!

My husband said something very profound to me today, although to him it was probably a simple remark. But when I was complaining about something, I said to him, “Ugh, it’s fine. I’m fine.” And he replied with, “Fine, or good?” WOW this resonated so much for some reason. (Sorry babe for telling this ๐Ÿ˜˜ but your wisdom must be shared!)

Maybe it’s just me, but that made me stop and think about how negative I was being for NO reason. I was acting like my world was going to end, when in reality, I am good and LIFE. IS. GOOD. God has given me this life and this purpose, and it is good and it is well. We aren’t put here to be average and “just fine” but to be happy and purpose-driven.

It’s like God is just really pushing for me to get my chin up ASAP because on top of the hubby’s encouragement, I was reading my devotional and it basically said, “You’re gonna get through today, no matter what, so you might as well take the happy route through today, by choosing Me.”

If you’re doubting yourself, whether it be your appearance, your financial situation, your job, whatever – please remember to choose Him, choose HAPPY! Being happy is a choice, and you’re the only one who can make it ๐Ÿ™‚

I may only be preaching to myself today… but hey, I hope this helps you lift your chin a little like it did mine. Hope your week is fabulous! Thanks for stopping by

Hi guys. Happy hump day! Hope your Wednesday is going well. Mine hasn’t been the ideal day – I’ve been sick this week and today woke up feeling 1000x worse.ย It seems the only time I have time to blog lately is when I’m stuck at home sick. When you work with roughly 75 kids a day, your immune system takes a few hits. I think this is the third time I’ve been sick in a month or so… Ain’t NOBODY got time for that. The hubby is taking me to see my favorite band play tomorrow night and I can’t be feeling lousy for that!

ANYWAYS! This cold I have is what inspired this smoothie recipe for my afternoon snack today. I don’t call it super smoothie because it has lots of magical super foods in it (is there even such a thing?), I just think it sounds cool and I really want it to have some sort of power over my cold. I also ate a Larabar since I recently got my appetite back, and what better way to heal your body than to fuel it?!

It’s cold/flu season, so I thought you guys might enjoy this smoothie as well! It’s got lots of strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries in it, which are high in anti-oxidants. The spinach also contains lutein, which is also an anti-oxidant. (In case you’re wondering what antioxidants do for ya, they help protect your healthy cells from damage by free radicals!). Spinach is a great source of vitamin A, and even has some vitamin C in it to help out your immune system.

Find the recipe at the bottom of this post! ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m alsoย here today to remind you of something very simple yet very impactful.

It’s just three words, but when I read them somewhere this morning, it felt like God just instantly wrapped me up in a big bear hug.

Are you ready?

(No, those were not the three words.)

You are enough. YOU are enough. You are ENOUGH.

No matter what the world tries to tell you, this is true. You are enough in the eyes of the Lord, so why worry what the eyes of the world think? Whether you are a student trying to keep up with studying and your GPA, or a mom trying to juggle your kids and your marriage and your sanity, or a wife trying to balance your work life with your wifey life, or someone who’s somewhere in between there… You are enough and you are loved!

I struggled for a long time beforeย realizing that I am enough, but now that I’m confident in that, life seems to be a little easier. Just thought I’d share. ๐Ÿ™‚ Hope you guys have a great rest of your week!

Wellness Wednesday

Hi guys! In my last wellness Wednesday post (forever ago, oops), it was about fitness/my latest workout. However, this week I want to point out how much more there is to wellness. It encompasses mental health as well, which is 100% as important as physical health.

This week, I’ve been pretty sick with a terrible cold or sinus infection (avoiding the doctor’s office, so who really knows lol). It has completely thrown off my workout game, which I have been strictly improving lately. As many of you know, I had to go a long period of time without being physically able to workout, BUT in the last few months I have finally been back to myself! Therefore, I have set some personal fitness/wellness goals and have a burning desire to reach them.

So, throw in this sore throat/stuffy nose/pressure migraine that I’ve had, and there goes my workouts for a few days. Womp womp.

At first, I was honestly really upset with my body for not having the energy to workout. The first day I felt sick, I forced myself to go to the gym regardless, and left quickly feeling 100 times worse.

That’s when it hit me. It’s OKAY to take some days off, especially if my body needs rest. If my goal is to becomeย stronger, then pushing it when it’s low on energy is not going to get me stronger any faster.ย If my goal is to keep my body healthy, then working out while not healthy is doing just the opposite.

Taking a few days off is not going to ruin the progress that’s already been made. If you’re on a fitness or wellness journey, please remember this! As long as you are consciously making healthy choices when it comes to what you eat, then a few days of rest will not ruin your progress. You can’t let rest drive you crazy, because even God told us we are to rest at least one day a week!

I’ll stop rambling now, but I know personally how addicting the gym can become. So I wanted to remind you that it is so okay to rest every now and then! Just use it to motivate you next week in the gym!

Listen to your body. Fuel your body. And most importantly, love your body.

Thanks for reading!
