Velvet Shorties

You guys… I am SO on board with the velvet trend! I got these shorts thinking they’d be the perfect fall staple in Florida! I was right about that, until three days ago when it went from 75 and sunny (like it’s been for the whole entire season) to 45 and windy/cloudy/rainy! Brr. I get cold just thinking about it… FL has ruined my cold tolerance. But I wore them yesterday anyway because they’re SO freaking COMFY. I’m a HUGE fan of clothes that feel like pj’s but make you look put together 🙂

I got these shorts at my favorite 30A boutique, Indigo Watercolor! (Also where I work now and I’ve never been happier! If you’re in the 30A area, come see me!) Like I said in my other post, their website isn’t up yet BUT you can find their Instagram HERE! Check us out!

The sweater is from Riffraff a few seasons back, but they have tons of new ones that are just as cozy! And the blanket scarf obsession continues — ILYMIX is where it’s at y’all! Now that it’s cold here, I’ve pretty much been planning my outfits around my ILYMIX scarves haha. They’re so cozy, and they make great Christmas gifts!

Anyone else feel like you’re suddenly running out of time to get all the gifts you need?! I think I have a mini heart attack every other day because I keep thinking of more gifts I need to get! Someone please come do my shopping?! No? Anyways, on a more serious note… I almost didn’t post this post (actually almost deleted the whole thing after I wrote it) because I got on Instagram and scrolled through other people’s feed and felt totally inferior. I let other people’s highlight reel affect my real life. “My photos aren’t as good.” “My legs aren’t as skinny.” “My roots are grown out a little but her hair is so perfect.” Blah blah BLAH! You’re probably familiar with this nonsense. So, if you’re like me and you sometimes let Instagram get in your head, here’s your reminder that it’s simply a filtered highlight reel, not the messy, REAL every day life that people live. So cut yourself some slack, and if you want to post that picture, post it with confidence! Let’s use Instagram as a way to build community not competition, and compliment each other’s strengths rather than focusing on our own weaknesses!

I hope you guys have a great day, thanks for stopping by!

Ombre Top + OTK Boots

Happy Monday! Better yet, happy CYBER Monday! Anyone else trying to frantically get some Christmas shopping done and out of the way today?! I feel like it totally snuck up on me this year, and even though we still have almost a month, I’m stressing out that we’re only halfway done with our Christmas shopping! So, in case you’re like me and want to knock it out sooner than later, I’ll link my favorite cyber Monday sales I’ll be hitting up today! My after work plans include a glass of wine, my laptop and wallet, and curling up on the couch (hopefully with a Christmas movie playing, but I think I’ve burnt the husband out on Christmas things already). This is totally unrelated to this post, but I had to throw some in there… how cute is my hubby? Ladies, find you a man who is patient with you during photo shoots with your new camera :).

A few of my Cyber Monday must’s:

Of course, we all know Amazon is the epitome of Cyber sales, so if in doubt go there!

For all things home decor/kitchen/etc.:

Wayfair allllways has amazing prices, but today they’re doing up to 80% off so many things!
Overstock is doing all kinds of deals and door busters today!

For adorable, boutique clothes/jewelry/etc.:

Riffraff is doing big deals from 30%-50% off sitewide, based on how much you spend! Check them out, they’ve got an outfit for everything. (And they ship for free!)
Red Dress Boutique has TONS of deals today! From jewelry to shoes to clothes, things as low as $10! So cute!
Anthropologie is running 20% off the whole site today! And ummm have you smelled their volcano candles?! Heaven. Go get some for your favorite people!
Forever21 is doing 21% off their whole site today!

NOW let’s talk about this outfit! First of all, Florida has been WARM this fall/winter! It’s only my second full winter here, but I’m kind of amazed at how warm it’s been. Which I secretly love because I hate being cold, but it makes it a little tricky planning outfits. We all know the struggle of freezing in the morning but sweating by noon, so I’ve figured out the key to looking fall-ish but feeling cool/comfy. It’ll probably be my winter uniform until FL cools off (if it ever does)… A lightweight top, skinnies/leggings, and over the knee boots. So simple, yet so put-together looking. You have the boots that make you look like Fall, but you keep it breezy with the top so you’re not too hot by the time it warms up. This lightweight top from Indigo is perfect for that awkward fall weather and can be layered if you need it! *Their website isn’t up yet, BUT you can peep their Instagram HERE!* I love that the bell sleeves trend is staying around, and the ombre colors give you lots of options for putting different colors with it! I wore it alone for our Christmas card photos, but threw on a blanket scarf after to add a little more of a winter vibe to it (I was cold for like five minutes).

The blanket scarf is from ILYMIX and is SO warm! It truly is like wearing a blanket, but you don’t look crazy you just look cute haha. I always tell my husband I need to start carrying around a blanket in my purse because I am ALWAYS freezing to death when we go out to eat! My problems are solved – these scarves are the best.

I hope YOU have a great Monday full of strong coffee and lots of cyber sales! Thanks for stopping by!

How I Styled My Latest Thrift Shop Find

Would you believe me if I told you I got this adorable gray dress for $1.50 at the thrift shop? Because I did (Along with a couple other hidden gems). Total day maker, because I love finding good deals. I just love how it can be simple/casual OR dressy/classy! The only thing is, I can’t link where the dress is actually from… because I have no idea. But that’s okay just this once, because the main focus of this post is my necklace *😍😍* from Julia Marie!

September is upon us (how in the heck did that happen?! it was July like five minutes ago) and I’m so excited that it is. First of all, it means I’m one month closer to my hubby coming home — I haven’t seen him in five months so ANTSY is an understatement! It is also our wedding anniversary month ONE week from TODAY! This is one of my favorite holidays to celebrate! Unfortunately, this year we’ll be celebrating without each other, but that just means we’ll celebrate twice as much when he comes home later on 🙂 For now, I’ll probably go buy myself more flowers like the ones in these photos; I’ll just add some wine and chocolate in there. #treatyoself

Anyways, September 19th, 2015 is my favorite day since it’s the date of our amazing wedding! It was such a fun day and I wish I could do it again, and again and again. It was so perfect! But, since I can’t relive my wedding I guess I will just wear my wedding date necklace instead 😉

I was scrolling the Julia Marie website one night, torn on what to order because of how beautiful every single piece is… but I knew I wanted something kind of simple yet elegant if I wanted to dress it up. When I saw this bar roman numeral necklace, I knew right away that I HAD to have it, with my wedding date on it. I’m so in love with this necklace and have already worn it with pretty much everything. It works well as a single necklace with a nice dress or top, but also layers really well with other, longer necklaces for a more trendy/edgy look! I just love it. **PS the one I’m wearing is on major sale right now!! Linked at end of post.

I shot this look while traveling in AR, so don’t mind the humidity hair :/ is it fall yet?! It was in the 60s this morning but it’s already warming up since the sun’s out. I guess we’re officially entering the awkward time of year where you need jackets in the morning but burn up by the end of the day!

Side note — lots of prayers going out to everyone affected by hurricane Irma (and Harvey too). My house will probably be fine, but I know many people’s aren’t and I hope they know how prayers are being lifted up for them during this difficult time.

Hope you have the best day, thanks for stopping by!

Wellness Wednesday

HIII happy hump day! Halfway to Friday people.

So lets talk about my favorite yoga pants. These blue and gray ones from Firepower are seriously the shiz. They feel so amazing on! The material is comfy and high quality. They are a little more expensive than what I normally buy BUT hear me when I say SO. WORTH. IT. They’re still cheaper than Lulu though but still the same quality (hello, score). And they’re squat proof ladies!! I love how high waisted they are so no riding down your booty as you squat. This black mesh sports bra is also from Firepower. You can get a discount with my code – ‘REASONER’! I’ve got more exciting, new Firepower looks coming soon so stay tuned for those.

I have mentioned recently that I’m struggling with a knee injury that has set me back in my workouts (hashtag anxiety). Fortunately it’s looking like I won’t need surgery (thank God!) but they still don’t know why it’s still hurting. So frustrating! But anyways, at first I used my knee as an excuse to skip my workouts completely. Yes I was in a lot of pain so that’s understandable… to an extent. But now I have realized that instead of letting it defeat me, I can use this time as a chance to focus on what I CAN do instead of what I can’t.

For example: one of my biggest fitness goals right now is to do a pull-up on my own. So instead of being sad I can’t work legs on leg day (my fav workout) I can focus that energy on improving my upper body strength. My knee may be weak but my arms are perfectly fine. Might as well go hard with them! If you have something that you feel is holding you back from your goals, let it motivate you instead!

While rest days are extremely important, don’t use the little things as an excuse. Get out there and kick that excuses butt. Tired from work? Even just a 30 minute walk can boost your mood and energy. Too hot outside? Go for a swim – then you’re cooling off AND getting cardio in. Whatever it is, just do it.

And get some Firepower so you’ll look badass doing it 😉

Thanks for reading!

Tropical Vibes

Happy Monday! It’s almost the best holiday ever and I’m so excited! I love the 4th of July and can’t wait to celebrate how awesome our country is 🙂

There’s a kind of funny story behind this shirt. I actually bought it two years ago and just cut the tags off and wore it this week. I got it back when I lived in Colorado after Jon proposed because I thought it’d be great for our honeymoon. I started stocking up on cute, beachy clothes and just saved them all for after the wedding. Well… here we are two years later and we haven’t gotten around to taking our honeymoon haha! Life gets crazy like that.

Anyways, I finally decided to just cut the tags and wear it – especially since palm prints are SO in this season. I have decided it’s time to just start stocking up on a new set of honeymoon clothes by now 😉 We are trying to take our trip this winter so hopefully life will allow us to slow down and take it!

I also have a broken toe right now, so just ignore the giant white tape on my foot. Another one of life’s LOL moments that you just have to roll with. I’ve had lots of those lately.

Anyways, this shirt is Show Me Your Mumu so it’s probably no longer in stock BUT I know they have tons of NEW fabulous tropical prints in stock now!! I got mine through Riffraff.

Shoes are forever21 and pants are Target! I feel like I’m always saying, “Oh thanks I got it at Target.” I might have a problem.

I’m off to the beach — have the best 4th of July ever! Thanks for reading!

Florals + Sunshine

Happy Friday!

I have recently discovered shein.com and it quickly made its way to the top of my favorites list (they are not paying me to say this- I actually just love them haha). They have so many cute things and tons of new arrivals all the time. Plus it. is. SO. affordable! This whole outfit was less than $25 (shirt + shorts)!!

I love the floral on this top for a pop of color, and the sheer material keeps it from looking too dark. You can dress it up or down – I kind of went for in between. You could also throw a lacey bralette underneath, instead of a tank, to make it a little sexier, depending where you’re going.

I loved shooting this look because it was the most beautiful day in Rosemary Beach. The week before had been super rainy and cloudy from the tropical storm, so enjoying a sunny day in a dreamy beach town was just what I needed! I realized, when the sun came back out after disappearing for a few days, that my mood had shifted with the weather. Everything seemed to be going wrong and I struggled to stay positive that week. I had let the gloominess get me down, even though in the grand scheme, things really weren’t that bad. The sun came back out and I felt like a weight had lifted. Maybe it was a coincidence, maybe not, but I think God was trying to remind me that He’s like the sun – you can’t always see Him but he’s always there waiting to shine when you need Him most! So don’t let the rainy days get you down – just take advantage of them and binge your favorite show or read your favorite book; whatever you gotta do to stay positive!

If you’re reading this, thank YOU. Have the best day ever!

Monday Motivation

Hi guys! Hope your week is off to a lovely start. After having my family in town last week, this week already seems to be dragging and quite boring. I wish I could just keep them here with me, haha! We had so much fun. I’m already anxious for their next visit.

We spent most of the time at the beach, but when we weren’t on the beach we went out exploring some new places – shops, coffee/food places, etc. – and eating yummy food (my best hobby!). We shot these photos in Historic St. Andrews – one of my all time favorite spots in this whole area!

This outfit was perfect for covering up my sunburnt shoulders without making me sweat in the heat! I bought this shirt at Riffraff several years ago, and I’m so happy I have held onto it, because bell sleeves are making the biggest comeback! I will link the outfit details at the bottom of the post (linking similar shirts since this one is old)!

Anyways, let’s talk about getting OUT of your own head and letting positivity in!

One of my BIGGEST struggles this week, to be honest.

I have come a reeeally long way as far as self love and all that goes. Most days, I love myself regardless of what negative thoughts try to pop into my head and ruin my day… But some days, or weeks, just don’t come as easy. Some days, my negativity toward MYSELF saturates everything I do and affects my whole mood. Not cool, but it is what it is. So please know that you are not the only one struggling with this!

My husband said something very profound to me today, although to him it was probably a simple remark. But when I was complaining about something, I said to him, “Ugh, it’s fine. I’m fine.” And he replied with, “Fine, or good?” WOW this resonated so much for some reason. (Sorry babe for telling this 😘 but your wisdom must be shared!)

Maybe it’s just me, but that made me stop and think about how negative I was being for NO reason. I was acting like my world was going to end, when in reality, I am good and LIFE. IS. GOOD. God has given me this life and this purpose, and it is good and it is well. We aren’t put here to be average and “just fine” but to be happy and purpose-driven.

It’s like God is just really pushing for me to get my chin up ASAP because on top of the hubby’s encouragement, I was reading my devotional and it basically said, “You’re gonna get through today, no matter what, so you might as well take the happy route through today, by choosing Me.”

If you’re doubting yourself, whether it be your appearance, your financial situation, your job, whatever – please remember to choose Him, choose HAPPY! Being happy is a choice, and you’re the only one who can make it 🙂

I may only be preaching to myself today… but hey, I hope this helps you lift your chin a little like it did mine. Hope your week is fabulous! Thanks for stopping by

Wellness Wednesday: Comparison

Hi pretty people! These super fun yoga pants are from HERE and code “reasoner” saves you some monaaaay! My “Chill” top is from TJ maxx and I’m obsessed. It’s like TJ knew I love to netflix and chill.

I hope your hump day has been fantastic. Mine has been rainy, but productive overall. The nice thing about rainy days is you can stay in and GET. STUFF. DONE. I love checking stuff off a to do list.

I also love naps, like a lot, which is also a huge temptation on days like today. So I’m writing this post instead! It helps me feel more productive 🙂

This morning in the shower, I prayed that God would use me somehow today. Just that. Use me, however. Whatever. I had no specific ideas in mind at that time. But as I was finishing my workout today, I kept thinking about this topic and realized that maybe this is what God wanted me to talk about on here today! (I originally wasn’t going to post today)

If this doesn’t relate to you, I apologize and hope I don’t bore you too much. If it does relate to you, I hope you can find some comfort here on my little corner of the internet!

Something we ALL can relate to is comparison. We are surrounded constantly by people on Instagram with “perfect” bodies (I say that in quotations because we are humans and surprise! not perfect). We are reminded constantly of how hard people are working at the gym, because let’s be honest almost everyone posts their workouts – I am guilty of this too! We scroll through feed after feed full of what everyone else is doing, and we forget that we are only seeing a very small fraction of what’s really going on.

On top of social media, there are always co-workers, family members, friends, etc. who seem to be doing just a little more or better than we are. Or maybe something you wanted job-wise, school-wise, etc. didn’t work out, and it made you feel inferior when comparing yourself to your colleagues.

Am I right? I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who struggles with this.

But something I have had to basically FORCE myself to do is to take a step back from Instagram or Twitter or whatever platform it is that’s making you feel inferior. Because if it’s giving you anxiety or making you feel less than AMAZING, then is it worth spending time on? No. Take a step back.

I’m not saying delete your insta or anything, Lord knows I love the ‘gram lol. But when you start feeling yourself making comparisons, TAKE A BREAK! Put your phone down, and go enjoy the moment.

And remember, no matter how perfect someone’s instagram feed is, their life is certainly not. Everyone has their struggles, or insecurities, or whatever. Everyone’s body is different. That super intense workout they do might work for them, but maybe you have bad knees and can’t do high impact stuff. THAT’S OKAY! It doesn’t make you LESS, it makes you DIFFERENT. If we were all the same this life would be so boring.

And on top of everyone’s body being different, so is everyone’s situation! Don’t judge your body based on someone thinner than you – what if they have a food intolerance that causes them to be limited on what they can eat, thus resulting in weight loss? What if you didn’t get that internship because a BETTER one is waiting for you down the road? Don’t let what can often be a very positive, happy social media platform turn into something that causes you unneeded anxiety.

Being someone who often struggles with anxiety, this realization has been key for me! Everyone’s on their own path. So let’s build each other up, love each other, and MOST importantly, love OURSELVES. We can’t truly love others until we first love ourselves.

XO beth

Rainy Day Casual

Hi friends! I have been loving my time here at home the last few weeks – terrifying storms and all. But, let’s be honest… you can only keep a girl away from the beach for so long. I am anxious to get back to my actual home!! Plus, living out of a suitcase can get exhausting. I’d say the biggest struggle for me lately, however, has been change. Plans changing. So many things in my life have just changed at the last minute and left me feeling caught off guard and stressed out and sometimes even angry. I’m a planner, it’s just my personality. While I do love being spontaneous, I also need structure. So, when not just one but many things up and change in my life all at once, no matter how big or small – it causes chaos in my mind (looking at you, Satan).

Lately I’ve learned to just be still and know that God is in control, not me. My job is not to worry, because what does that do? Having faith isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it. So, wherever you’re at in life, keep your faith even when it’s tough! He’s got your back I promise!

Sorry for the completely non-fashion-related rambling. I felt like someone else might be feeling like me so thought I’d share 🙂

For a good chunk of the time I’ve spent here, it has rained. In fact, immediately after taking these pictures, it poured. April showers this year have been relentless! I wish I had a dollar for every tornado warning we’ve had here lol. These crazy storms ruined some of my most exciting plans here.

Anyways, because of all the rain, the theme of many of my outfits became COMFY+CUTE. And this dress is about as comfy as it gets! I got it back in December, and it’s versatile and can be worn into the spring! I usually break up the stripes by tying a long sleeve around the waist. I went for chambray this time, but plaid is really cute with it too! And being in AR for the week, I figured this hat was pretty appropriate 🙂 I got it HERE and they actually have recently released some new, similar hats that are SO cute (think: one says “Dry Shampoo” omg yas). And my Steve Madden’s on my feet because HOLY COMFY.

And that, my friends, is how you stay comfy yet cute in the rainy weather (without having to try too hard hehe). Hope your week is fantastic!

Blush Crush

Hi guys! Happy hump day 🙂 I almost said happy Monday but then realized today is Wed and my days are all mixed up.

My hubby is about to be gone for awhile so we took a last minute getaway trip to Atlanta the last few days! We had so much fun. I came home with a full heart and hopefully some new abs from laughing so hard. JK we ate out for every meal so bye bye abs. It felt great to get away for a hot minute!

Anyways, first let’s talk about my current spring obsession: blush. It’s the color of the season and I’m not mad about it. I went shopping the other day and everywhere I looked, I saw blush tops and accessories.

So this top combines two of my favorite trends – the color blush and the off shoulder top! Seriously as good as it gets for a top. Plus it’s so light and comfy, yet the sleeves give you some cover if you’re going out at night! I wore this out to dinner the other night and it was the PERFECT lightweight long sleeve for a spring evening. I can’t wait to pair it with white skinnies or denim cutoffs in the summer!

Second. While we’re talking about vacation and indulging and all the cheats I ate *and loved* while traveling with my love… lets also talk about balance!

Balance is a great thing. And I am so happy I have finally found a level of self love where I can find my balance.

Don’t get me wrong – I still have moments where I talk bad about my body and hate what I see in the mirror (I’m a work in progress but I’m also better than I have been in a long time!!). I’m not perfect!!

BUT! I’m not gonna let my fear of maybe eating extra calories overcome my enjoyment of YUMMY FOOD and time with my hubby! Something I’ve learned and truly believe is this:

Hating your body won’t get you nearly as far as loving it.

So moral of this rambling story: enjoy the occasional indulgences! You will drive yourself crazy if you are too hard on yourself. Trust me. Don’t deprive yourself of good moments with friends/family because of your fear of food. Food is to be enjoyed. If you’re a foodie like me, you will be so sad if you skip the treats 100% of the time. As long as you love yourself enough to put real, clean food in it MOST of the time and remain active — you can have that cookie every now and then 😉

Okay I hope you guys have the best Wednesday. Thanks for reading!
